Hestia is the bastard-born daughter of Lord Carthis De Dona Valois of Ishgard and a Lower born Hingan woman. Her illegitimate blood marked her as an outsider, and her youth made her vulnerable—placing her in constant conflict with her uncle Cardinal Francesco Di Valois, a man who would use her for his own selfish means.Hestia became the center of aristocratic scheming. Her family fighting each other in an attempt to to control the young heiress whose very existence threatened the head power of the family. Her uncle, desperate to keep his control and authority, placed a bounty on his niece's head.At the age of fourteen, Hestia ended up fleeing the duchy to seek refuge in the distant city of Kugane and, though it was only temporary, it marked the beginning of a life lived in the secrets.And its pretty clear that Hestia is keeping a lot of secrets.If you wish to learn more I would prefer we do so in roleplay.

Those who know Hestia personally, know that she is a woman who is often knowledgeable, determined, and remarkably brave when the situation demands it. Often counted as proud, strong-minded, but is known to be incredibly difficult.
Her speech, while well educated and courteous, due to her nature as a spell caster now speaks in terse and paused sentences so as to not accidentally form or cast a spell.

Astarael, better known as Mertagh or simply “the Mertagh,” is a creature shrouded in mystery—what it truly is, or was, remains unknown. Some who have crossed its path claim it is an ancient voidscent from the remans of Mhach, that had long lost its form after the use of a nullstone; others believe it is nothing more than the echo of what remains of a dragon’s eye.Mertagh is bound—though how or why is still a mystery—enslaved by a black mage’s staff. The staff forces him to obey the will of whoever wields it, unless they choose to free him.Over time, Mertagh has taken many forms. His most common is that of a small black cat—a fitting choice, given his cynical, “catty” personality. He has also appeared as a man with yellow eyes and black hair, and occasionally as the eye bound within Hestia’s staff. Regardless of form, he loves to eat fish, be an annoyance, and assist only at the very last possible moment.Mertagh is bound to the staff Sleepbinder, which leaves him perpetually drowsy. He demands to be carried by his current owner and can use the miniature bell on his collar to induce weariness in others.Like all creatures of this world, Mertagh cannot be classified as either good or evil. He exists outside the laws of the world, guided only by his own tendencies and desires, and subtly influences those around him to serve his whims.
